Today, someone who is more than dear to me gave me a gift that sets my heart singing – bird songs! I have been admiring The Stokes Field Guide to the Birds of North America, by Donald and Lillian Stokes, for weeks. And in fact, had added it to my Christmas wish list. Actually, it was the only thing on my list so far.
When I began this blog, I knew next to nothing about nature. And I still know very little. At first, through the first year or so, I had no desire to do anything but observe what I saw. Little by little, I began to look things up, generally through a google search. Then, at some point in the second year, I purchased or borrowed pocket guides to the birds. Now, four years later, I am thrilled to have the Stokes book as a resource.
From here on, when you visit my blog, you can have better confidence that I am labeling the birds more accurately! But you’d best move on to a real naturalist’s site if you need 100% assurance of identification!
