More Photos from My New Nikon 55 – 300mm lens!

Here are more photos I took this week with my new Nikon 55 – 300 mm lens. The chipping sparrow is a small bird. It’s so petite, I always think it’s a baby bird. This one landed and posed on a branch for me yesterday. It showed me its profile, displaying its eye color and markings and its beak shape and size (above), its wing stripes (below), and (below still) its crown view, as well as the cut of its tail feathers! It seemed to know just what the bird books are looking for!

The common grackle is a menacing bird. It has a raucous call, an imposing look, and it perches at the tops of trees as if to declare itself king of the neighborhood. But it has a unique beauty in its iridescent hood of deep blue.

I find its eyes, which are yellow, to be scary looking.
