I can’t help myself – this bird has a hold on me! Humor me a bit as this post is actually educational. I have never before seen the red in the wings of the female (both photos below). I wonder if it’s only evident this time of year. The photos are a bit blurry but if you click to enlarge, you can see the red, which looks more like a rust color than the brilliant red of the male (first photo above.) Okay, class dismissed!
