Mushrooms

The first two weeks of July have been muggy. Most likely, that’s the cause of an abundance of mushrooms. And, there’s been a fair amount of rain. In any event, mushrooms abound.

Viewing the photo above and the one below might cause you to think of Disney’s ‘Fantasia’, as it does me.

Also, seeing a mushroom has the duel impact of taking my mind to the micro-cosmic world and the macro-cosmic world. Under the shadow of the mushroom I picture tiny folk making their home. Simultaneously, mushrooms have the look of otherworldliness to me. In the photo above and the photo below, you might see what I’m expressing. Interestingly, it’s the same mushroom, the photos taken one day apart. The dome (taken the first day) makes me ponder a macro universe. The flat look (taken the second day) makes me think of the micro-cosmic.

In varieties of size, shape, and color, the mushroom’s inconspicuous existence tarries with minimal fanfare. Yet, when studied with visual acuity alone, it is remarkable.

Enjoy the photos below, and be sure to see the surprise capture of my lens in the final shot!

As I shot photos of clusters of mushrooms, like above, I kept being distracted by a glowing blue blur. Adjusting my lens revealed the image below. The tiny neon-blue tip of the tail of this Damselfly is what was catching my eye!
